My name is Mike Allan, and I am the President of Videozine Communications. SEO Services Toronto is our Search Engine Optimization division.

I have been practicing SEO since 1998. It all started one day when I was driving past a new condominium development on my way to work. I was a freelance videographer and I had an idea to shoot a promotional video for this development’s website. I tried looking them up on YAHOO, which was THE search engine in those days but I had no luck finding them.

That night on my way home I made a note of their website and checked it out. Out of curiosity I checked their meta tags, as I had just read an article about search engines and how they worked. The article said the way to get a good search engine ranking was to “optimize” your meta tags. This condo site had no meta tags at all.

After that I started checking out the head content of every site I visited. It was the same story everywhere I went. No one was using head tags. I mentioned this to an associate of mine who was a web developer and he said it was so new nobody understood what it was all about. (This was 1998 after all). So I set out to learn as much as I could and then set up a website to test my theories.

In about three weeks time I found my new site at the top of the Yahoo listings. Not just in the number one slot, but in numbers one to six! I was ecstatic. I had reached my goal to be on the top of YAHOO!. What phrase was I ranked one to six for?

Since then I have been very successful at gaining top rankings for other websites I have launched. For the last 3 years, my home based VHS to DVD Transfer business has been ranked #1 on Google for the search phrase “VHS to DVD Transfers in Toronto”.

In August of 2008 my position at a post production company was eliminated and I was faced with a career change. I decided at that time to become a full time SEO Consultant and here we are.
