The revisit after tag is not a valid meta tag
I have come across too many “revisit after” meta tags as I’ve been scouting out some potential client’s and their websites lately. I am completely dismayed that so many so called “SEO experts” advise their clients to use them.
The “revisit after” tag is not a valid meta tag.
Whoever told you the “revisit after” tag would bring back the robots was wrong. You can’t tell the robots when to come back they have to have a reason to come back. Robots will revisit you after either one of two things.
A) you re-submit your site map
B) you add new fresh content to your site/blog.
The more you add fresh content to your site/blog, the more the robots will come to visit and faster too. Within minutes of posting either here or on my social media blog - newmediamike.com, the spiders and bots come a-calling.
Now you won’t get penalized for having the “revisit-after” tag, but you should still delete it from your head content anyway. Unless you want an SEO company calling you to tell you that your “revisit after” tag is not a valid meta tag.
